Lost in Translation

Very interesting. This has a personality or maybe an audience in mind that I am not familiar with. the whole movie I felt like I was missing some inside joke or something. Teh character development was very mysterious to me. It was as if I could identify with them, but I just wasn't sure if I was reading them right. I like seeing teh idea of teh intrinsic human quality within all people that can be a connection point. It makes me remember that human connection is not magical, but a choice, It just takes chance occurances or surprise circumstances to make it easier to choose at times.

LOR: Return of the King

Amazing ending to en epic classic. Tolkien is a genius. I will not say much. So many know so much more abou this trilogy. But, I thouroghly enjoy depth and richness of this story. IT was made so well and to see it complete is great....

Law & Order didn't let me down

I know its not a movie, but oh well...

Last night I watched L&O as usual and teh basic topic was religious. A white man had killed his sister's black girlfriend 9 years ago. Every since that day he has become a born-again Christian. His life had radiacally changed and was completely focussed on helping others and giving back. The major agrument was wether or not he should be exempt from trial because of his major life change. (there is an actual legal motion that pertains to a situation similar to this, so they were'nt just looking for a way out) I was a little hesitant, more often than not, christians are portrayed as religious fanatics, but this was not the case. This man was a good representation of christian character. He seemd very down to earth and rational, as well as very convicted of his beliefs. He showed complete obedience and submission to Christ. He was the whole time willing to accept full responsibility for his actions. His attempt to get out of it all was easily an honest struggle, he as well as everyone recognized that he was doing society more good right where he was rather than in prison. But when teh motion was denied he didn't give it a second thought. HE submitted to teh authorities and accepted a guilty plea and went to jail.

There was another element. His lawyer was more of an activist. She was jsut trying to play the system to make some new changes in how the law works. But She was shown for that and identified as 'not a real believer'. The man in question also did nto allow her to play the system once teh special motion was denied. ITs true there are people that want to use teh system from a religious perspective, and I alway applaud L&O for giving an honest portrayal of teh curren tissues in society.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

Well, I am normally against movies with such long titles. That is part of the reason I have no desire to see that sky captain movie with Jude Law and Angelina Jolie. Or is it that I just don't like Either of those two Actors, they're talented, I just don't like them.

Anyways, This movie was great. I love movies with a great concept. And As I've said before, I love movies that show triumph comes with the need for others. I was not particularly drawn toe the personalities of the two main characters. I just didn't connect with them. I do have to say that I was glad to see that the writers didn't go for the mainstream character types of the 'ben-n-jen' variety.

This was a smart movie. It keeps you guessing. And without being a huge sap-fest it displays the value and effect that our memory has in life. Everyone would agree that your memories make you who you are, in many ways. This movie explores that in a new and inventive way. We've all seen the amnesia angle. The difference here is the additive of choice. Amnesiac never choose to forget. Here, you ask yourself, would I choose to forget if I could. Maybe with some memories you would, but when It comes to people in your life, you just cant get rid of them.

Ray

I have also in the not so distant past saw the movie 'Ray'. This has been very critically acclaimed, and rightly so. First of all Jaime Fox recieved teh academy award for best actor in this role. This was well deserved. About 2 minutes into the movie I could not see Jaime fox anymore, it was as if it was really Ray Charles. I believe that an actor truly acts when the audeince ceases to see the actor, but sees the character only. Fox truly achieved this. The story itself was not too spectacular. Though it was great to see the inside story of teh development of an amazing musical career. I don;t knwo how much the 'common' person can really connect to this story, or maybe I just didn't. Much of the story seemed to be about Ray Charles' battle with an addiction to heroin. Yes, one could argue that the true story was a black/blind man's fight to stand on his own. But, I prefer a story that shows triumph which requires the aid of others. In all it was a great movie. I think it was also very special that this movie could be released so close to Ray Charles' death as well as still having the use of Ray himself on the soundtrack. this move gave Ray Charles a life tribute that I think anyone would be proud of.

Luther

I most recently watched the Movie 'Luther'. This recent depiction of the accounts of the very influential Martin Luther, the Father of the Reformation. This will be of little interest to you if you don't care much for religious history. But if you do, like me, this is a great depiction of the monumentus beginning to an event that spark a world revolution, at least in the western world. Though not put out by a major production company, this movie still scores some recognizable stars. This movie does a good job of taking you too the major historical points of the beginning to of the Reformation, while not boring you into a history lesson. I would watch it again, but I don;t know how many else would.
